ASWB delegates elect leaders to Board of Directors and Nominating Committee

ASWB delegates elected seven members to the ASWB Board of Directors and three members to the Nominating Committee at the organization’s 2024 Annual Meeting of the Delegate Assembly in San Diego, California, on Saturday, November 9, 2024.

Kenya Anderson of Tennessee was voted president-elect. Endsley Real of Georgia was elected as secretary. Adrienne Ekas of Maryland and Stephan Viehweg of Indiana were elected as directors at large, licensed social worker; Vikki Erickson of Nevada was elected as director at large, member board administrator; Scott Stephens of South Carolina was elected as director at large, public member; and Brian Brumley of Texas was elected as director at large, open. Anderson will serve in the office of president for four years, one year as president-elect, two years as president, and one year as past president. Real, Ekas, Viehweg, Erickson, and Stephens will all serve two-year terms on the Board. Brumley will serve for one year to fill an unexpired term.

Incumbent members of the 11-member ASWB Board of Directors include President Brian Philson of Michigan, Treasurer Géraldine Poirier Baiani of New Brunswick, and Directors at Large Sonia Andhi Bilkhu of British Columbia and Brenda Dennis of Arizona.

Directors at Large Ann-Marie Buchanan of Tennessee, Carla Moore of Louisiana, Elizabeth Pope of North Carolina, and Tobi Zavala of Arizona, and Past President Roxroy Reid of New Mexico concluded their terms on the Board of Directors at the annual meeting and were recognized for their service.

ASWB delegates also elected Whitney Cassity-Caywood of Kentucky, Elizabeth Crone of Arkansas, and Fran Franklin of Delaware to two-year terms on the Nominating Committee. They join incumbents Ebon Freeman-James of North Carolina and Alverta Muhammad of Ohio.

2024 committee chair Shelley Hale of Ontario and committee members Joline Comeau of Nova Scotia and Marette Monson of Utah concluded their terms on the Nominating Committee.

The Nominating Committee is charged with developing slates of candidates for ASWB Board of Directors and Nominating Committee elections each year.
