Congratulations!

AMANDA DUFFY RANDALL of Nebraska received the 2020 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Nebraska chapter of NASW at the chapter’s virtual conference in September. AMANDA, recently retired from her role as director of the Grace Abbott School of Social Work at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, is a former ASWB president, a former member of the Nebraska Board of Mental Health, and a current item development consultant for ASWB’s exam development program.

The chapter recognized AMANDA for demonstrating throughout her career “the highest form of social work values and ethics at every turn. She was not only a leader within the field but also a trailblazer.”

More congratulations!

LISA CROCKWELL, executive director and registrar of the newly named (as of September 30) Newfoundland and Labrador College of Social Workers, wrote to share the news of the name change from the Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Social Workers. The name change represents a milestone that the college has worked to achieve. A press release detailed the reasons: “This change stems from legislative amendments to the Social Workers Act and was needed to 1) ensure our responsibility under the Act to operate in the public interest was clearly understood and 2) bring us in line with our provincial and national regulatory counterparts who have also undergone a similar name change.”

Solar success

During the first full month of operation in ASWB’s new headquarters, the solar parking canopies produced so much electricity that the association was able to put power back on the grid.
