ASWB announces retirement of CEO Dwight Hymans and succession plan
The Association of Social Work Boards has announced that CEO Dwight J. Hymans, MSW, LCSW, ACSW is retiring effective April 30, 2022, after more than 15 years with the organization, including the last two as CEO. Hymans signed a two-year contract to serve as CEO in 2020, and his departure reflects a planned change in leadership. ASWB President Roxroy Reid said, “The ASWB Board of Directors is confident that Dwight leaves the organization with strong management and dedicated staff ready to support his successor.”
A succession plan is under way, and Development Resources inc. is assisting in the search for a CEO. DRi specializes in nonprofits and has a demonstrated record of success in helping organizations like ASWB identify outstanding executive leadership candidates.
Because of his long tenure with ASWB, Hymans began serving as CEO with a deep understanding of the organization and the trust of the staff and board of directors as a strong foundation. “I am proud of the work that ASWB is doing and the plans for moving into the future,” said Hymans. “ASWB has done well through COVID because staff have been flexible and willing to think ‘out of the box’ to address the challenges facing the organization.”
About his planned retirement, Hymans said: “I have been fortunate to be part of ASWB for the last 15 years. Serving as ASWB’s CEO is the capstone to my 46-year career as a social worker. I have felt good about working here, and I will feel good when I leave. ASWB is in a good place for someone new to come aboard.”
