Social Work Month activities
ROXROY REID of New Mexico presented the keynote address at the 60th anniversary celebration and awards ceremony hosted by the Arizona State University School of Social Work, his alma mater. ROXROY’s speech was titled “The regulatory and future practice of social work.”
CEO DWIGHT HYMANS contributed a blog post, Social Work Regulation: Essential to the Profession, to the New Social Worker website.
ASWB was a sponsor of Social Work Day on the Hill hosted by the Congressional Research Institute for Social Work & Policy. DWIGHT HYMANS was honored to present CRISP’s Congressional Social Worker of the Year award to Congress member Karen Bass of California.

Former ASWB CEO MARY JO MONAHAN married ROGER GORG on March 11 in a small ceremony at the Culpeper County Courthouse. Former ASWB CEO DONNA DeANGELIS and ROGER’s son, BRIAN GORG, stood up with the couple.

NBMT kicks off the year
The March New Board Member Training, the first of 2021, included 15 attendees from 12 different member jurisdictions. In total, attendees earned 113.25 hours of CE during the two-day training. March was the second time the training was held online, with presenters JENNIFER HENKEL and DALE ATKINSON hosting from ASWB headquarters and attendees connecting via Zoom for the training. Registration is open for the next New Board Member Training, June 10–11, which will also be held online.
